Each year, the NHS produces more carbon emissions than all the planes taking off from Heathrow combined, which contribute significantly to global climate change and presents a huge and imminent threat to health, and therefore service demand. During this 1-hour lecture we will explore sustainability within the healthcare system in more detail.Programme6:00pm Arrival refreshments6:30pm Lecture starts7:30pm Lecture finishesMiss Jenny IsherwoodDelivering this lecture will be Miss Jenny Isherwood, a senior surgical registrar training in the Oxford region. Through the National Medical Director’s fellowship scheme Jenny was seconded to the Royal College of Physicians for two years in 2016-2018. At the RCP Jenny designed and led a project looking at healthcare sustainability. She has produced national guidance on how to integrate sustainability into everyday practice within the NHS, and worked closely with the RCP’s quality improvement team revising their definition and approach to quality improvement.BookingBooking for this lecture will be open shortly.
