Despite the growing number of children within the UK with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions, there remains significant barriers to the timely integration of palliative care services for many patients.This study day will explore the core principles of delivering care to children with palliative care needs, and will draw on expertise from leading professionals within the field as well as the families themselves.Trainees will be given the chance to explore the full remit of palliative care services available, and reflect on some of the ethical challenges arising towards the end of life.topics include:The broad definition of palliative care in childhood and factors that determine when the care of a patient becomes palliativeAppropriate therapeutic intervention in symptom controlLocal opportunities for respite care, including hospice availability
