This course is designed for doctors preparing to take on greater leadership responsibility. It focuses on the personal qualities necessary for doctors to lead effectively, as well as the moral and ethical basis for leadership, and balancing the needs of patients, colleagues and the organisation.Topics covered include:management and the exercise of powerleadership styles and behavioursthe ethical, moral and philosophical basis of leadershipmaking organisational change happenservice development and making the case for change.This course complements the Preparing for your first consultant role course. They are on consecutive days to make it easier for you to attend both courses if you would like to.Who should attend?Consultants/specialists (in post for six months or less).Training grade doctors (ST6-8). *This course has been approved by the Federation of the Royal Colleges of Physicians of the UK for 6 category 1 (external) CPD credits.
