Welcome to the website for the 17th bi-annual Epilepsy SpR Teaching Weekend.The teaching weekend comprises a series of lectures, video sessions and informal seminars covering the most important areas of clinical epilepsy practice in 2019.The speakers are all internationally recognised experts in their fields and previous participants have found the teaching weekends both stimulating and enjoyable.As you will see from the enclosed programme, following the success of the last meeting, this year’s lectures will again take place at the stunningOxford Mathematical Institute.The programme will start at 10:00 on Saturday 14th September and concludes at 15:45 on Sunday 15th September.This course is made possible by educational grants from the Pharmaceutical Industry together with a modest delegate fee to cover the cost of the meeting, including lectures, accommodation and meals shown in the programme, details of which are provided below.WHY ATTEND?ILAE British Branch 17th SpR Teaching Weekend has been approved by the Federation of the Royal College of Physicians of the United Kingdom for 11 category 1 (external) CPD credits.Epilepsy is the most common serious neurological disease in the UK and seizure disorders are seen frequently in both the neurology clinics and on the hospital wards. A sound grasp of the principles and pitfalls of epilepsy management is essential in order to diagnose and treat patients effectively and safely.This weekend course delivers a comprehensive and contemporary approach to establishing a confident diagnosis, selecting and interpreting the most appropriate investigations, choosing the correct medical and surgical treatments and tailoring epilepsy management to specific populations such as the children, women and patients with intellectual disability.
