Description

This five-day course is aimed at health care practitioners from around the world who specialise, or have a major interest, in the care of older people. Although of particular value to doctors at consultant or senior trainee level, many General Practitioners, allied health professionals and specialist nurses also find the course very relevant and worthwhile.

This year the course will cover the following themes:

  • The Acutely Ill Older Person
  • Pathways of Care
  • Haematology and Oncology in the Older Adult
  • The Later Stages of Care
  • Breathlessness in the Older Frail Adult
  • The Senses
  • Bones and Joints
  • Neurology

The course is designed to update you on the theory and practice of elderly adult care. It includes lectures by experts on topics of current and practical relevance, with frequent opportunities for interactive case-based learning. Places are limited, thus maximising opportunities for networking. Please note, it is possible to book the full course or individual days only.

The course also features a popular social programme including a welcome reception with tours of the historic College buildings and a guided bus tour of Edinburgh’s historic medical sites. Half-days on Wednesday and Friday allow delegates to explore and enjoy our beautiful city.
