Learning ObjectivesAt the end of one and a half day course, delegates will:Be aware of current theories and the causes and neurochemistry of anxiety.Know the pharmacology of both GABA and 5-HT acting anxiolytic drugs.Have an understanding of the current clinical assessment of the various anxiety disorders.Be aware of the merits and demerits of the various different classes of anxiolytic agents.Understand the ongoing methodologies for investigating brain mechanisms of anxiety.Know the clinical and pharmacology background of underpinning rational use of hypnotics.Have an insight into the way alcohol acts on the brain and how these effects can be minimised.This module is eligble for 10 CPD hours which are subject to peer group review.
